Damme ART – where art connects people
Driven by a shared passion for art and for Damme, Luc Beke and Carl Vissenberg joined their visions. Together with curator Annelies Ysebaert, Luc Beke shaped the art biennial Àmare. Carl Vissenberg grew HONDSDAMME into a gallery where artists, collectors and art lovers meet.
The redevelopment of the former municipal school gave rise to va'ART: a new place where artists can create, exhibit and stay. Today, HONDSDAMME and va'ART together form Damme ART: an art platform that makes contemporary art accessible and brings together artists from Belgium and beyond in the heart of Damme.
On the spot where the harbour of Damme once lay, it is no longer goods that are exchanged, but ideas, creativity and inspiration.

Both galleries are within walking distance of each other in the centre of Damme. Coming by car? Park for free at the Damme Zuid or Damme Oost car parks, a five-minute walk from the market square. Damme is also a beautiful bike ride along the Damme Canal, or take the riverboat Lamme Goedzak from Bruges.
